Robert Dorf
Robert Dorf (Managing Director) is a native New Yorker. He attended the Collegiate School and then matriculated to Colgate University where he received a BA in English Literature. Upon graduation he was employed in the loan officer development program of National Westminster Bank NA for small and middle market lending. After leaving Nat West he spent 16 years in the international logistics and transportation business where he developed an expertise in shipping, international finance and import and export regulations for such diverse industries as wine and spirits, textiles, and steel. In 1990 he became a guest lecturer on trade issues at New York University. During his 16 years in the logistics industry Mr. Dorf was both self employed and worked in the corporate sector. He ultimately held the title of Director of Sales and Marketing for the Swiss domiciled Kuehne & Nagel. In 1998, after two years of consulting, he followed his life long interest in community development and the arts and arts policy and enrolled at the Robert J. Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy, receiving a MS in Not for Profit Management in May 2000. From June of 1999- 2004 he was the Managing Director of Dances Patrelle. He has since 2004 been managing director for Susan Marshall & Company. Mr. Dorf also works as a freelance consultant to not for profit arts organizations. Besides his professional work Mr. Dorf also volunteers extensively and serves as a trustee of Dance USA, the national service organization for professional dance, the Colgate University Alumni Council and serves on the advisory board of Dance NYC.
